Caramel apples, creme brûlée and toasty oak highlight the aromas. The flavors are an enticing combination of melon and butter, baked apples and lime zest. This well-balanced Chardonnay is rich, but not heavy handed. 67% of the wine was barrel fermented; the lees stirred to add complexity and an appealing creaminess. 10 months barrel aging added the rich texture. The remainder was cold fermented in stainless steel to retain the fresh fruit flavors and crisp acidity. The finish has an intriguing European minerality and a little lemon zest.
